FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS

Polyphase Filter Technology

The Aaronia USA Spectran V5 Series offers a new generation of spectrum analyzers, with upgraded filtering processing technology. While most real-time analyzers utilize Fast Fournier Transform (FFT) analysis, the V5 spectrum analyzer series uses a patented method combining two stagger combs (produced by polyphase filter). This is superior to Fournier analysis because the polyphase filter covers more than one interval of sample points, based on the number of frequency points. Filter Curves (for example, real Gauss Filter) can be applied without limitation of the slope due to predetermined intervals. Two temporary spatially-staggered filter combs are used, avoiding gaps in the frequency-time domain. This revolutionary technology allows the analyzer to pick up even the smallest signals within your applied frequency range.

Ultra-Fast DDS Sweeping

The V5 Spectrum Analyzer Series also offers traditional spectrum analyzer functionality with the μS Ultra-Fast DDS Sweep Mode. These USB-based spectrum analyzers are equipped with DDS-synthesizers (in addition to the local oscillator modulation) that offer up to 800 MSPS I/Q, resulting in extremely fast frequency hopping of the LO. This accelerated sweep speed is much faster and more precise than other sweep spectrum analyzers.

Expandable Frequency Range

The Spectran V5 series of real-time USB spectrum analyzers offers an expandable frequency range down to as low as 1Hz – internal diversion allows the low-frequency input signals to be diverted to a second RF path that is optimized for lower frequency processing. This lower frequency 2nd path is optimized from 1Hz up to 40MHz, with a high-performance 16 bit AD converter with 105MSPS. Enhancing the resolution from 14 bit to 16 bit results in dynamic range improvements from 80dBto 100dB. This 2nd path offers all of the real-time functionality, controlled by μS DDS sweep. The transition from RF path to low-frequency path is seamless and will go unnoticed by the user other than the improvement in dynamic range.

Real-Time Streaming and Data Logging

Unlike other real-time spectrum analyzer models, the Spectran V5 USB Spectrum Analyzers allow for uninterrupted data logging, with continuous data streaming, gap-free saving, and no limitations on allowed time. This feature opens up for countless applications that were previously unavailable, like recording and replaying signals, and decoding of recorded digital signals (GSM, TETRA).

SPECTRUM ANALYZER TECHNOLOGY

The Spectran V5 Series (Handheld and USB Spectrum Analyzers) offers revolutionary technology, making this new line of real-time spectrum analyzers truly unparalleled in functionality, with limitless possible applications. The signal processing is performed by field-programmable gate array (FPGA), which includes a vector processor for statistical analysis and demodulation. Used in combination with the Dual Core Backfin DSP-CPU and the high-resolution color touchscreen display, field analysis on even the smallest or most complex signals is made easy. The signal is sampled by a 14 bit AD converter with a data rate up to 500MSPS (250MSPS I/Q), resulting in a dynamic range of 80dB. An optional 16 bit AD converter (with 100dB dynamic range) is available as well.

The USB-based X-Version (USB spectrum analyzers) is controlled in real-time or remote via USB / PC software. The unit itself includes an internal 8000 mAh LiPo battery, with 2-3 hours of autonomous run-time (or remote data logging). External power packs and extended batteries are available as optional upgrades.

OPTIONS, UPGRADES, and ACCESSORIES

20dB Internal Low Noise Pre-Amplifier LNA (Option 020): Provides an internal super-low-noise 20dB preamplifier for measuring very weak signals. This is controlled via true RF switch. INCLUDED IN USA MODELS.

20GHz or 40GHz Power Meter (Option 220, Option 240): Highly accurate internal power meter, up to 40GHz.

5ppb (0.005 ppm) OCXO Timebase (Option 002): Extremely precise OCXO timebase offers significant noise / jitter reduction, and allows the use of narrower filters to increase sensitivity and more precise measurement capabilities.

1Hz Low Frequency Extension (Option 003): Extends the low end of each model’s frequency range down to 1Hz, via 2nd LF path (see previous paragraph discussing internal switching and diversion). This offers improved dynamic range (from 80dB to 100dB), and is fully functional real-time controlled by DDS sweep.

Ultra-Low Phase Noise (Option 004):

6GHz Tracking / I/Q DDS Generator (Option 007):

160 MHz Real-Time Bandwidth Expansion (Option 160): Standard units offer up to 80 MHz RTBW, but this upgrade allows expansion up to 160MHz RTBW. Available only for the HF 80120-X, HF 80160-X, and HF 80200-X models.

20,000 mAh External Power Bank: Extending the autonomous run time from ~2 hours to ~6 hours, the external power bank is highly recommended for field applications where AC power may not be readily available, or applications requiring full-featured usage / internal logging that may quickly drain internal battery resources.

GPS Logger: This optional GPS logger offers 6 sensors (GPS, Gyro, 3D Tilt, Digital Compass, Height, and Accelerometer) and integrates with the analyzer directly to pinpoint locations. This is ideal for automatic for recording field measurements and generating heat maps (with Google Maps, for example), as well as visualization of network coverage for GSM, WLAN, etc.

Broadband Antennas: Spectran V5 Analyzers are fitted with high-quality SMA connectors that allow them to interface directly with our full line of precision broadband antennas, including directional LP antennas, low-frequency magnetic field tracking antennas, and omnidirectional radial isotropic antennas. These antenna models are available in optimized frequency ranges and come in many varieties to suit countless RF analysis applications.

External Low Noise Pre-Amplifiers: Spectran V5 Analyzers also interface directly with our full line of external battery-powered LNA, to heighten sensitivity up to -170dB and sniff out extremely weak signals.

Near Field Probe Set: Available in passive and active models, AaroniaUSA near field probe sets offer 5 probes with or without 40dB preamplifier, to sniff out weak signals in near-field EMC testing applications.

Cables and Connectors: AaroniaUSA offers a wide variety of compatible cables and connectors, including 1 meter, 5 meter, and 10 meter SMA cables, DC blockers to prevent the 50 Ohm SMA input from being destroyed by DC voltages, 20 dB attenuator to expand the measurement range to 33dBm, SMA-SMA connectors, SMA-N connectors, and more.
